What Can I Do with Vinegar?

I’m talking the plain old white vinegar that you get for $1 for one gallon, not the fancy cooking kind that you find in the gourmet shops.

I’ve used vinegar to wipe down my floors and to clean my kitchen counters. But, I’d love to hear from some natural moms who use vinegar around the house regularly.

Help me to get rid of some of my cleaning supplies. What are some uses for Vinegar?

Vinegar kills yeast, so you can pour 3 cups of it into a sitz bath if you’re dealing with yeastie beasties.

Put a cup of it into the first rinse when you’re washing cloth diapers (then do a second rinse) and it will get rid of detergent residue that might irritate baby skin.

Vinegar does work as a natural fabric softener for all clothing. It rinses out residue and helps your clothes last longer.

I use vinegar to get rid of odors. For example, urine and vomit accidents on yur furniture or carpet(ewwwww I hate even typing those words). After I clean the mess I spray vinegar on the spots. The vinegar smell fades it will not continue to smell like vinegar. This is the same for odors in your laundry.

I use vinegar to clean my coffee maker. It works wonderfull. Just run vinegar through like water and it will clean out any hard water deposits. Then run clean water through to clear our any vinegar. Makes your coffee maker run like new!

Vinegar can be used to clean tea kettles. Add 1/4 cup of winegar to water, boil and let stand overnight. Rinse thoroughly, and your kettle is ready to use.
