What Can I Do with an Old Pair of Shoes?

Filed under: Old Clothes — Administrator @ 11:32 am

I was visiting this site — http://www.redriderleglamps.com (Don’t even ask how I got here. lol) Of course, my thought was “If all the leg lamps face the same direction, then what do they do with all those leftover shoes?”

Hmm… the things I think. ;)

Anyway, that got me to thinking about this episode of Oprah I saw a few years ago where she gave away one left shoe to every one as they were coming into the auditorium. Once they all got in there, she said “Why’d you take the shoe?”

Actually, you may think it’s kind of ridiculous, but some of the people actually had reasons. Here were some of them…
1. I have a dog. He’d like it as a toy.
2. A keepsake from the show.
3. To fluff pillows in the dryer.

The answers weren’t as weird as you might think.

Anyway, to appease my curiousity, please, pretty please tell me what would YOU do with a bunch of mismatched shoes?

What Can I Do with Antlers?

Filed under: Main Page — Administrator @ 11:25 am

I’ve been watching the Grinch too many times, I think. I just love that Max! And, watching that goofy antler tied to his head and his forehead wrinkles. lmao! I know, small minds, are easily amused. Anyway, it got me thinking.

What can I do with antlers? It’s not that I have a bunch lying around. I just thought it would be an interesting discussion. ;)

Let me have it! What in the world can I do with Antlers?

What Can I Do With an Old Wheelbarrow?

I’ve inherited two wheelbarrows. One ended up with the bottom rusting out (yes, it was rusty when I got it, but I didn’t know it was THAT rusty). The other, my rotten puppy ate the handles. (yes, he’s a goober).

Anyway, I have these two wheel barrows that aren’t fully functional. I’ve seen people use them as planters, but I’m wondering if there are any other uses for them? Maybe I can just buy some new handles? ;) Or turn the barrow part into a sandbox or something? Not that I’ll ever actually get around to doing that, but I’m just curious.

By the way, my husband and I had an arguement whether it was a wheelbarrow or a wheel barrel. lol. Any votes?

What Can I Do With a Bag of Buttons for Clothes?

Filed under: Main Page,Old Clothes — Administrator @ 10:31 am

Back in January, my Grandma passed away. One of the things that I remember about her is that she always had tins filled with spare buttons. I have no idea why she kept them all (except that she maybe I get some of my packrat genes from her) — but she always had oodles of spare buttons. All of us kids loved to sort them, and line them up. Maybe that’s why she had them around. ;)

Other than entertaining your grandchildren, what are some uses for spare buttons?

What Can I Do with Cardboard Boxes?

Now, I really have no problem actually recycling cardboard boxes. This isn’t something that I save up. Imagine that! The packrat actually DOES get rid of something. ;)

However, I am always thinking of creative or frugal ways to use cardboard boxes to save me money. I do use them for basic storage of plastic items. However, I can’t use them for a lot of storage since I live in Florida and need WATERPROOF storage to make sure my items are hurricane proof.

So, creative moms. Do you have any clever or fun ideas to use those occasional big cardboard boxes that I come across? I’m definitely listening.

I’m thinking of some Halloween costumes made from boxes and will post them soon…

What Can I Do with a George Foreman Indoor Grilling Machine?

So, I see these George Foreman Grilling machines everywhere. People are oohing and ahhhing over them.

I don’t get it. I need your help.

What can I do with a George Foreman grill? Is it basically a sandwich maker? How is it any different than just frying up some food in a pan with only a little oil?

Do you have recipes or money-saving ideas or just time-saving meals? Inquiring minds want to know. ;)

What Can I Do With My Child’s Artwork?

I know there are tons of ideas for this. I’m hoping that I’ve got some clever readers who can help.

My kids bring home their brilliant art projects from school every day. I adore their art work and would love to preserve ALL of it, but … I’d have to buy a bigger house in order to do it.

So, what can I do with my kids’ artwork? Any ideas for presentation or preservation? :)

Let me have it.

What Can I Do with a Crock pot?

Filed under: Kitchen Items — Administrator @ 10:32 am

I know this is going to sound like a really dumb one for some of you out there, but I had a crock pot in college and never used it. I don’t know if I felt weird about leaving the “oven” on while I left or whether it was a pain to clean or what but I just didn’t get into it.

Fast forward 10 years since I’ve been in college and now I have 2 kids and an online home business that keeps me hopping. So, I’m getting interested in the whole crock pot thing again. Can you help?

I found a few crock pots that look good — >
Crock Pots at Amazon

And, some free crockpot recipes.

But, honestly, I still feel quite lost.

What should I look for in a good crockpot? AND, do you have a favorite crock pot recipe to share?

What Can I Do With Broken Crayons?

With two kids around (and both love art), I’ve managed to accumulate a lion’s share of crayons. Many are broken and peeled, and some are quite small.

As usual I assume there is something I can do with this bucket ‘o crayons, but I have no idea what.

Calling all creative moms — What can I DO with all these broken crayons? :)
